BVSCA MEMBERSHIP MEETING 7:30 P.M.

1. Public Comment. Recent developments affecting BVSCA Neighborhood. (7:30 to 7:45 p.m.).

2. Presentation on Guaranteed Used Tires -- Use Permit. The Association has invited the Use Permit applicant, and their legal representative, Debra Fitzgerald-O'Connell, of the law firm of Lawson and Frank, to make a presentation on Guaranteed Used Tires' Use Permit proposal. Guaranteed Used Tires is a family owned business presently located at the former Olmstead Oldsmobile Dealership on Wilson Boulevard between Rosslyn and Court House Road. The applicant has requested a Use Permit to move their business to 3237 Wilson Boulevard, the old Kirby's Dodge Dealership building. This site was formally occupied by Motorhead Limited, which operated a public garage pursuant to a Use Permit. Guaranteed Used Tires will employ three (3) persons at this site and will be in operation from 10:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. The business will be operated within the existing building. No new construction is proposed for this site and Use Permit application. The proposed Use Permit will be heard by the County Board at its meeting of March 13, 1999. (7:45 to 8:15 p.m.). BVSCA Executive Committee Meeting (8:20 to 8:45 p.m.).

1998-'99 Membership Meeting Schedule. Monthly Membership Meetings of the Ballston-Virginia Square Civic Association are scheduled at the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA), 4301 Wilson Boulevard, Arlington, Virginia, Ellipse Conference Center (Room CC1 except as noted) for the following Tuesday evenings: 03/30, 04/27, and 05/25/99. For your information, NRECA provides free garage access for one hour at NRECA's underground parking garage for participants attending the BVSCA Membership Meeting (30 minutes prior, to 30 minutes following, the starting time of our meeting). The garage's automatic exit device allows exit-only traffic after the garage is closed.

Announcements: Public Hearings on County Budget and Tax Rates. The Arlington County Board will hold a public hearing on the County's proposed fiscal year (FY) 2000 budget on MONDAY, MARCH 1, AT 7:00 p.m. at Washington-Lee High School, 1300 N. Quincy St. A tax rate(s) public hearing is scheduled for THURSDAY, MARCH 4, 7:30 p.m., in the County Board Room (Suite 307), 2100 Clarendon Blvd. All speaker slips must be submitted to the Clerk of the County Board by 8:00 p.m. on the night of each hearing.

On February 9, 1999, the Association appointed Tom Sawner, at-large-member of the Executive Committee to fill our Alternate Delegate vacancy to the Arlington Civic Federation. On February 12, 1999, Albert C. Eisenberg, Chairman of the Arlington County Board, announced his resignation to accept an appointment as deputy assistant secretary for transportation policy for the U.S. Department of Transportation. Paul Ferguson, formerly Vice Chairman, assumed the duties as Chairman, effective February 13, 1999.
