I-66 PARKING GARAGE & PLAYGROUND AT 13th AND N. VERMONT PARK

The Arlington County Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Resources (PRCR) would like to solicit our participation in the planning process for the renovation of the I-66 Parking Garage Park and the playground at the 13th and North Vermont Park.

There has been a proposal to change one of the current outdoor basketball courts into a roller blading facility by the summer of 1997. This proposal would include classes and clinics being offered, in addition to drop-in play opportunities. Signs would be posted specifying the need to wear a helmet when skating, as well as announcing that the park closes at dark. The tradition of conducting a community yard sale would not be impacted, as this activity would be accorded priority status.

Also, the Arlington County Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Resources (PRCR) would like to solicit your participation in the planning process for the renovation of the playground at the 13th and North Vermont Park. Since the existing equipment does not comply with safety regulations, our current timetable calls for the removal of this playground equipment as soon as possible.

The Civic Association has invited Timothy J. Chesnutt, Recreation Services Supervisor, to make a presentation on the County's plans to renovate the I-66 Parking Garage Park and the playground at the 13th and North Vermont Park, at our Wednesday, March 12, 1997, Membership Meeting, at the Arlington Hilton Hotel, 2nd Floor Conference Rooms, above the Ballston Metro Station . If you have any questions or comments about these proposed plans, we invite you to bring them to our Membership Meeting. This item is scheduled for presentation from 7:30 to 8:00 p.m. The public is welcome to attend.
